thequietworld: lawd y’all i have so many feelings on the mary-cora relationship i think my favorite aspect of downton is that when you strip away the aristocracy and the history it’s really just a family drama both about the families we are born into and the families we create and to me mary and cora have such a realistic mother-daughter relationship cora will carry a dead body for her daughter and forgive her her sins and she tries to ensure her security like a good mother does but she also doesn’t assess what mary fundamentally needs which is a mother who supports her decisions in life but cora ultimately understands how strong and willful her daughter is and she loves her i love that s2 was all about people coming to see how brave and empathetic mary is lawdddd i need to write a meta
